Within this site you will find a selection of images highlighting artworks by Kelly Irving (aka kelly i). I work in various media, but photographic based imagery is a longstanding, and productive, favourite.
Why call it photo graphics? Although many of my images are staight photos (i.e. unmanipulated images) I do enjoy producing manipulated imagery. I produced manipulated images long before I had either PhotoShop or a digital camera. Sometimes the work was done in a darkroom. Sometimes with a cutter and glue. So... I chose the word(s) photo graphics to encompass all my photographic based work*.
This site has several main collections: photo graphics, design/graphic arts and a sampling from my work in other media (including paintings, sculpture, video and live theatre). Biographical and professional information is also available.
Although I have tried to organize the pages into logical sections there is some overlap and arbitrary decisions as to organization. The viewer may either browse or, if you need to find something more quickly, try the Site Index.
My home is on Pender Island, one of the Gulf Islands in the province of BC in Canada. However, I spend much of the year traveling, photographing and producing artworks in various media. I previously ran my own graphics design company (hence the 'kellyidesign.com') but am now focussed on my own work. This takes a variety of forms including photo prints, mixed media works and products such as stickers and T-shirts.
